Adding and navigating to Bookmarks
Bookmarks
The Bookmark tool allows you to navigate to predefined areas and/or create your
own "favorites." Steps for these are outlined below.
Creating a bookmark
- Start by zooming or panning to the area of the map you would like to save. The Search tools can be used to find a specific property.
- Once you have the area shown as desired, click the Bookmark tool
in the Toolbar.
- Enter a Name by which you would like to reference the area in the future.
- Click Add
- An entry will be added to the Zoom To list and the window will close.
Navigating to a saved bookmark
- Start by clicking the Bookmark tool
in the Toolbar.
- Next select the name of the bookmark you would like to view from the Zoom To list.

- As soon as the name is selected, the map will automatically zoom/pan to the location
that was showing when the bookmark was created.
Managing personalized favorites
Existing bookmarks can be renamed or deleted. There is also an option to delete
all personal favorites:
- Click the Bookmark tool
in the Toolbar.
- Select the name of the bookmark you would like to modify from the Zoom To drop down
list.
- To specify a new name, type the new entry in the Name box and click Rename.

- Click Remove (after selecting the correct bookmark from the Zoom To list)
to delete a bookmark.
- If more than one bookmark has been created a Remove All button will be available.
- Once clicked, a confirmation message will appear:

- Click OK to delete all favorites or Cancel to keep them.
Predefined Bookmarks
A set of organized locations are automatically included with the map when first
opened. There are also Range, Section and Quarter Section areas defined.
Zoom to a government unit
- Start by clicking the Bookmark tool
in the Toolbar.
- On the right side of the panel there is a drop down list of Cities and Townships.

- As soon as a City (or Township) is clicked, the map will navigate to a view that
shows the entire feature selected.
Navigating Township, Range, Section and Quarter Section
- Click the Bookmark
tool.
- On the right side of the panel click the drop down list for Range.

- When a Range value is selected the following happens:
- Map will zoom to that Range
- Bookmark panel will remain open
- Township or City list will automatically be set to match the selected Range
- Section list will be populated with the valid sections for that range (typically
1-36)
- Select one of the newly listed Sections in the Sec drop down:
- Map will zoom to that Section
- Bookmark panel will remain open
- Quarter list will be populated with the valid quarters for that section (i.e. NE,
SW, etc.)
- From the Qtr drop down list, select the desired Quarter Section
- Map will zoom to that Quarter Section
- Bookmark panel will close
Section and Quarter Section numbering are explained on the
FAQs
page.
Changing Behavior
By default, the Bookmark panel will disappear as soon as a bookmark is selected.
If you would like to navigate to several bookmarks at one time, there is an Auto
Hide function that can be turned off to leave the window open.
- With the Bookmark panel showing, click the Auto Hide checkbox in the title bar.

- If the checkmark is cleared before selecting a bookmark, the window will stay open
as the map moves.
