Search for features

The County of Kent Parcel Viewer allows you to search and find features of interest to you. The searching tools that are available include Latitude/Longitude, Locate Address, Find Parcel, Search Street and Buffer.

Search, find and query tasks

This website enables you to search addresses, parcels, streets and geographic location. Initially you may consider an address and a parcel the same thing. They are related, but often times there are multiple addresses at a single parcel and/or there are addresses that are not associated with parcels. Also, occasionally mailing addresses do not match parcel addresses.  And there are even streets with no addresses.

Latitude and Longitude

Because Kent County lies between the 42nd and 44th parallel and completely within the 85th meridian, entries are limited to searching for latitude degrees prefixed with 42 or 43 and longitude beginning 85.

  1. Start by clicking the Search tool Search tool in the Toolbar.
  2. Next click the Latitude/Longitude button.
    Geographic Location
  3. As the latitude is typed in the box, the prefix dropdown will change to fit the appropriate value.  Any entry of .7 and above will automatically switch to a prefix of 42.  Anything below .4 will be selected as 43.  All other entries will be blanked out since they do not fall within the boundary of the county lines.
  4. Enter the decimal value for the longitude you would like to locate. Entries below .3 and above .8 do not lie within the county but are not automatically corrected.
  5. Click Zoom or press the Enter key.
  6. The base map will contain a crosshair Location with the center located at the coordinates entered.
  7. Click Zoom again to show a closer view of the entered location.
Locate Address
  1. After clicking the Search tool Search tool in the Toolbar, click the Locate Address button.
  2. The search task opens in a new dialog window within the mapping application. This dialog window may be moved, collapsed, and closed. See Getting Started for details on using moveable windows.

  3. Enter the street address and/or zip code you want to search for in the input boxes of the task window. When entering a street address, be sure to include the section of the county (NW, NE, SE or SW) that you are searching.  Fulton is the North/South dividing line and Division is for East/West (i.e. addresses North of Fulton and East of Division have an NE suffix).
  4. The Zip code may contain the city name (could be filled in automatically from the drop down suggestions), but must include the 5 digit number in order to be accurate.
  5. Click the Find button to start the search.
  6. The Results section expands to display results of the search (if it does not expand automatically, click the up-arrow in the lower left corner of the map to display it). The text searched for displays in the results item.
  7. If an address is found, the details will appear in the results window and the map will automatically zoom to the specified location. The example below shows one possible result of a search using Find.

  8. The results could display one or more addresses found. Click the minus button Treeview minus button next to the first address to display other results. The number in parenthesis next to the search address represents the total number of addresses found. For more details on using the Results window, see Using Results.
Find Parcel
  1. Click the Search tool Search tool in the Toolbar, then the Parcel Search button.
  2. The find task opens in a new dialog window within the mapping application. This dialog window may be moved, collapsed, and closed. See Getting Started for details on using moveable windows.

  3. Type the Address or Parcel Number of the property to find. For help on Parcel Number, see Frequently Asked Questions.
  4. Wildcard characters % (zero or more characters) and _ (any single character) can be used anywhere within an entry.
  5. Partial entry is allowed in any field. (e.g. Typing just "Ottawa" into the address box will return all parcels that contain Ottawa anywhere in the address.)
  6. Click the Find button or press Enter to start the search.
  7. Parcels will be searched for properties containing all of the entries specified. Therefore, if an address and parcel number are specified, results will appear for properties that contain the entered address and the parcel number.
