Using the Overview and Magnifier
Overview
The Overview window displays a small map with a larger extent than the current map.
The current map's extent is shown in this window with a yellow rectangle.
- The Overview window can be hidden by clicking the overview icon
in the lower right corner of the map.
- Click the overview icon
again to display the Overview window.
- If the Overview map is not showing or acts sporadic, try hiding and displaying it
using the buttons above. If it still does not behave correctly after trying this
a few times, the web service for the overview map may need to be reset by the
helpdesk.
- As you zoom in or out, the Overview map's extent may change so it shows an area
somewhat larger than the main map.
- The Overview map may look different from the main map. Layers may be visible at
different map scales (zoom levels). Only one map service displays in the Overview
map.
Hover the mouse over the yellow rectangle until the cursor changes to four arrows.
Click and drag the rectangle's position to change the extent of the underlying map.
Move the mouse to the lower right corner of the yellow rectangle to change the cursor
to two diagonal arrows. This will allow changing the zoom level by clicking and
dragging the size of the rectangle.
Magnifier
The Magnifier window allows a close-up view of a small portion of the main map.
